At precisely 2.30 pm on March 11 next year, don’t be alarmed if you hear some stomping from Waverley College in Birrell Street, St Clare’s in Carrington Street, and even St Anne’s Primary School in Blair Street.

Because next year Catholic Schools in Bondi and Waverley are being urged to hold a jumping demo to (say organisers) protest about children being held in offshore detention centres.

Led by their teachers, the jumping will be part of a planned State-wide jumpathon for which a music video called “Jump” has been especially composed.

Catholic school-children of all ages will be encouraged to “jump up and down for kids” on March 11.

Sydney Catholic Schools director Dr Dan White denied that the demo was politically-inspired. “It’s about the rights of children not to be held in detention,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.
