WAVERLEY COUNCIL TO BE ABOLISHED
The State Government has announced proposed sweeping changes in local government boundaries across Sydney – and Waverley Council is on its hit-list.
It will be merged, if the plan goes ahead, with its neighbouring councils, Woollahra and Randwick, to form a new “super” Eastern Suburbs council-entity stretching from Sydney Harbour in the north to Botany Bay in the south.
It has no name yet, and there is no information where its ultimate council administration HQ will be situated.
The change, even if it gets through the many hoops it has yet to negotiate, will take a number of years to implement. The Bondi Daily is safe, however, and will continue to report on developments in our area, local-government-wise.
