Sydney celebrity chef Warren Turnbull is looking for a place in Bondi to start up a new poke restaurant/take-away. (Poke was originally a Hawaiian raw-fish dish-in-a-bowl that’s currently all the rage in America.)

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Turnbull (no kin) is planning a Hawaiian Poke outlet in Hall Street, after rejecting a beachfront Campbell Parade venue. “I still want to do it in Bondi,” he said, “but it’ll be more round Hall Street.”

A poke – pronounced poke-kay – is a Japanese-inspired dish combining (usually) cubed raw tuna with an assortment of extras, including (for example) chopped onions, shallots, ground macadamian or other nuts, soy sauce, sesame oil and/or seeds, chillies, and various other condiments to taste (as well as sushi rice)

Turnbull, according to the Telegraph, “kick-started Sydney’s burger craze” with his various Chur Burger outlets.
